I was just wondering if anyone who was at the Vermont games last
weekend has an explaination as to how RPI and Union were able to hold Eric
Perrin, Martin St. Louis, and J.C. Ruid without a point. I guess I'm just
concerned because I have nightmares of the trio busting the game open
against Cornell on Friday night. Last year, Cornell's defensive system was
able to contain the French Connection, and I guess that's good enough,
because, as Dan Patrick would say, "You can't hope to stop them, you can
only hope to contain them."
I will also step forward (oh so timidly) to offer the following
prediction: If Jason Elliot is on his game and Cornell can dictate the pace
of the game, then they have an excellent chance of winning. I'm afraid,
however, that if Cornell tries to get into a shoot-out with Vermont that
there will be a lot of disappointed fans in Ithaca on Friday night. I, for
one, am looking forward to this game. I saw Vermont in Ithaca and Lake
Placid last year, and really liked what I saw. Watching the French
Connection play is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, along with watching
the St. Lawrence power play.
Looking forward to a great game Friday...
