Also, there was a brief mention of the Barkan Bash:
"The eighth annual Barkan Bash went off with a little twist this
season. College hockey superfan Jon Barkan, the host of this annual
college hockey finals get-together since 1989 in St. Paul, welcomed
the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as co-host at the Hyatt Regency
Cincinnati and was on hand from the Wednesday night opening ceremonies
to the somewhat calm closing ceremonies in the wee hours of Sunday Morning.
Traditions include a bathtub full of beers and ice, lots of hockey talk
and plenty of the game's big names getting a chance to relax and
reflect on the events of the season past. (However, names cannot be
released for semi-legitimate legal reasons).
The Barkan Bash highlight for many of the college hockey revelers in
attendance - who made their way to the Queen City from all across the
U.S. and Canada - was the Friday night appearance of Brian Bonin and
the 1996 Hobey trophy, giving paryy-goers an opportunity to get their
picture taken with college hockey's top player."
