I know it's not really college hockey, but at least it isn't about the Bud song:
 
Today's St. Paul Pioneer Press mentions that the Minnesota State High School
League voted not to allow checking in girls' hockey.  (This is the first year it
has been a League-sanctioned sport and only about the third year there have been
any girls' HS teams in Minnesota.)  In November the League will vote on
sponsoring a 4-team state tournament next March.  21 schools have notified the
League that they will offer the sport this year.
 
So it looks like girls' hockey may finally be catching on out here in the
Midwest.  This could certainly have an eventual effect on women's college
hockey.  (so it's SORT OF college hockey content...)
