The following is from the Hockey East release dated 11/9/92.

HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shane Henry, Jr LW/C, UMass-Lowell. Henry scored the GWG and added an
assist in UML's 4-3 win over Clarkson. He also had an assist against
 SLU on Nov 6th.

HOCKEY EAST CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Paul Kariya, Fr C, Maine. Kariya tallied three assists in Maine's 6-2
win at Providence. He is the leading scorer in the league with 3-4--7
in three HOCKEY EAST games and 5-11--16 overall in five games.
Dan Millar, Fr G, Merrimack. Millar notched 43 saves in a 3-3 tie with
RPI, stopping 32 shots in the final 45 minutes to be named #1 star.

Since only Maine and PC have played league games, here are the overall
scoring and goaltending leaders.

POWER PLAY
Merrimack leads with 30.0% (9 of 30). UMass-Lowell (25.0%, 9 of 36) and
Maine (25.0%, 8 of 32) are second.

PENALTY-KILLING
BC leads with 95.7% (22 of 23). BU is second (87.5%, 14 of 16).

The copy of the release I have is smudged so it is difficult to make out
all of the PP/PK stats, thus I only gave the leaders.

NOTES
Jack Callahan's two goals in two minutes of the second period helped BC
to a 2-2 tie at Vermont Saturday; BC lost to UVM 9-3 last season.

BU sophomore goalie Derek Herlofsky is now unbeaten in regular season
games for BU; he is 1-0-1 this year and was 7-0-1 last year. Petteri
Koskimaki needs one more point for 100 in his career.

Maine center Jim Montgomery is now 8 points shy of Scott Pellerin's
all-time team scoring record of 223 points. Maine had two SHG vs PC
and has 8 SHG in their five games thus far.

UMass-Lowell is 3-0-0 when opponents score first. Their 4-1-0 start
is their best since moving to DivI in 1983-84.

Merrimack's 4-1-1 start is its best since joining Hockey East. Dan
Gravelle notched his 100th career point against RPI, the 38th player
in Warrior history to do that. The 56 shots on goal at Dartmouth was
the team's best in three years. Senior goalie Mike Doneghey's three
wins (3-0-0) match his previous season high.

After UNH's 1-2-1 start and a 4-4 tie with Air Force, freshman goalie
Trent Cavicchi made his first career start Saturday night and surrendered
a goal 14 seconds into the 2nd Air Force game. But UNH regrouped with
4 straight goals in the first and went on to the 6-3 win.

Providence's usually potent power play is 4 for 31 (12.9%) in their
first five games. The 0-4-1 Friars have been outshot in each game.
