Bowling Green State University's Brian Holzinger, a unanimous selection this
year, has become the 11th player in CCHA history to be selected to the CCHA All-
Academic Team three consecutive years. Holzinger joins former Falcons George
McPhee, Alan Leggett and Tim Hack, Lake Superior's Steve Mulholland and Clayton
Beddoes, Michigan State's Bob Essensa, Walt Bartels and Mike Gilmore, Ohio
State's Paul Pooley and Northern Michigan's Eric Ponath as the only three-time
honorees.

Ferris State's Tim Christian has been selected to the CCHA All-Academic Team
for the second straight year. The remaining four honorees (Shannon Finn,
Darren Maloney, Adam Smith and Brad Willner) are all newcomers to the CCHA All-
Academic Team .

Darren Maloney's selection marks the 11th consecutive season a Western Michigan
student/athlete has been a member of the CCHA All-Academic Team. This is the
longest active streak for any CCHA institution to boast a student-athlete on
the all-academic team.

The election of Holzinger makes 1994-95 the 10th consecutive season that
Bowling Green has placed a student-athlete on the CCHA All-Academic Team.
Since its inception in 1979-80, each year the CCHA All-Academic Team has
included either a Bronco or a Falcon.

Ohio State senior Adam Smith was an honorable mention selection the previous
two years, while Illinois @ Chicago's Shannon Finn and Lake Superior's Brad
Willner were both honorable mention honorees for the 1993-94 campaign.

To be eligible for CCHA All-Academic Team consideration, a player must be at
least a sophomore, and have a 3.00 grade-point average on a 4.00 scale. The
all-academic team is voted on by the faculty representatives of the eleven
member institutions, considering both academic and athletic achievement. The
players receiving the top six vote totals are honored as first-team members,
with all others receiving votes earning honorable mention recognition.
