[ Details/boxes to follow after some sleep! ]

Wisconsin fought off the funk they seemed mired in for the first 50
minutes of their game with Bowling Green to emerge with a 4-3 win
in double overtime.

Jamie Spencer scored the game-tying goal with 1:26 left in
regulation, and then Mark Strobel scored the winner at 3:43
of the second OT period.

In the first game, LSSU held off a strong comeback by Northeastern
and got the win, 5-4, after being up 4-1 midway through the 2nd
period. Northeastern's rally was helped by several major penalties
including 2 game DQ's. One was for deliberately stepping or kicking
an opponent who was down on the ice, near the neck too! The other
was for running into the referee.

I met up with fellow hockey-l-sters Dave Parter, Karl Schmidt and
Chuck Cliff between games. I'm happy to report that Dave is alive
and well, and is semi-lurking due to demands of job and a new
home. Chuck is from LSSU country and happened to be coming here
on business, and Karl is a native Wisconsinite who works in upstate
New York but was home for the holidays. Chuck and Karl are headed
home and won't be there Thursday, but Dave & I will meet again
outside section 221 between the first and second games on Thursday.

OUR QUESTION: After talking about the numerous penalties in game 1,
we got around to a situation that arose where one player was assesed
both a 2 minute minor penalty and a 5 minute major penalty for a total
of 7 penalty minutes. Our question: which is served first? If NE had
scored in the first two minutes, would the penalty time have been
reset to 5:00, or is the major served first? As it worked out, NE
scored their only PP goal of that opportunity at about the 3:30 mark
of the 7 minutes, so we never got to find out that way.
