Regarding the clear boards:  I have heard some goaltenders claim it is difficult
to pick up the puck when shot from a distance because the normally white boards
are not available to provide the color contrast to the blank puck.  Instead
there is the color of the fans' pants.  I don't remember which goaltenders
complained about this.
