It was a strange one. BG's defensemen scored 3 of its first 4 goals, with
the 4th the weirdest-a rare, rare breakaway by Todd Reirden. It was 6-1 late
in the 2nd when UIC went on the power play and pulled their goalie. Jamie
Williams quickly scored a short-handed empty netter.
The second and third periods were a penalty fest. The box below is incomplete
as everyone just wanted to get out of the arena, including the BG radio guy.
In total, 8 different BG scorers. UIC could only manage power play goals.
Same two teams Saturday night. Could be gruesome.
In other CCHA action, Miami beat Kent 6-1 and MSU defeated OSU 7-3. It was
tied at 3 in the 3rd of the LSSU/Michigan game, but somehow the UIC pressbox
never got the final of the most important game in the nation. They must have
been too busy writing down penalties.
