Nathan,
   It may have been before your time, but the NCAA did ban the dunk for
quite a while in college
ball.   Fan pressure (read; gate receipts) encouraged a reversal of the
decision. The  NBA rules
allowed the dunk and fans wanted to see in the college game as well.
  If the "Legg Lift" becomes common in NHL and minor league hockey, the NCAA
will be hard
pressed to ban it from the college rink.  With most every hockey player from
pro to mite aware
of the ESPN replay, it use of the move won't catch everyone off guard as it
did in the quaterfinals.
Maybe they won't jump in too quick and let the players find a suitable
defence.  It's as exciting
as a penalty shot, and just about as rare an event.
