What has turned into another big early season match up looms for the
Gophers this week as they visit Duluth. An even bigger challenge faces
the Gopher fans, as the DECC and Duluth will be a mess Friday and
Saturday night.

Friday: You may have noticed that game time is 8:05, not 7:35 like a
usual Friday night. Well, Friday is the annual Christmas City of the
North Parade and Community Tree Lighting downtown. The parade leaves
from the parking lot of the DECC and travels down Superior Street in
downtown Duluth. Also, the DECC parking lot is torn up due to:
        a) we are constructing an Omnimax theatre in the parking lot.
        b) we are constructing a new entrance to the parking lot.

So, if you can, walk to the DECC from your hotel. If you're at the
Holiday Inn, you don't even have to go outside, and if you're at the
Radisson, you just go outside for about two blocks, get in the skywalk
and walk over. If you're at the Park Inn or the Comfort Suites in Canal
Park, You can walk over the Minnesota Slip bridge behind Grandma's Sports
Garden and that will take you right to the back door of the DECC. If you're
somewhere else in town, well then, you'll probably have to drive, and I
wish you good luck. If you must drive, carpool to eliminate some of the
traffic. Both games are sold out except for 100 standing room tickets to
be sold before each game.

Saturday: No parade or tree lighting, but the parking lot is still a
mess. If you're driving, it won't be as bad, but go early for the 7:05
game time.

This message can be useful for all visitors to the DECC this season, as
the Omnimax won't be done until Spring, and the construction takes up
about a third of the parking lot.
