Hi Eve,
We gave up on New stickers and use "paper tape" from Demco in various
colors on our new materials. We cut off a snippet and write the month on
it, e.g. Dec. so that we know when to pull it off again in six months or
so. It removes neatly with peeling, no residue. We found that writing the
month by number confused people (is it a 12 day loan? No, added in
December), but the month abbreviations make sense to them.
The colors are on an "urgency" scale: yellow for new movies (1 week loan),
green for "new" books (2 week loan), and blue for new items with regular
4-week loan periods, including "new to us" books, new audiobooks, and new
children's materials. Hope that helps!
Best,
Sue
