´╗┐Dear Friends, Mentors and Colleagues,

I am retiring at the end of October and I want to thank you all for having shared 20 years of my working life with Maine libraries and librarians. Those of you who have not worked elsewhere should know how unique we are here. The statewide support and collaboration in all directions is unusual. It has been a wonderful experience and I have loved my work as a children's librarian and then a director. It was a privilege to work at the Springvale Public Library and then my hometown library. I am lucky to be here....and lucky to be retiring to tend my garden and read more books and enjoy our charming two-year-old grandson.

Here is the information about this job that I am leaving. The full job description can be found at

The right person for the job will enjoy working with a varied population in a collaborative environment, have excellent technical skills, a vision for coming out of the gate post-pandemic, great customer service skills and the desire to be a part of our community.

Applicants should be well organized, have excellent written and verbal skills, be current with the latest technological resources and library trends, and be able to establish a good working relationship with patrons, community members, organizations, and town officials.

position requires experience in administration, personnel, technology, and finance.

The successful applicant will possess strong leadership skills, independent judgment, and initiative. The library is staffed with a full-time children's librarian, two part-time library assistants, dedicated volunteers, and is supported by an active Friends group and a Library Advisory Board.

Applicants should have experience in public library operations, have an MLIS degree, or equivalent combination of experience and training.

This is a 40-hour full-time position with a comprehensive benefit package. A degree in Library Science is preferred and experience is required. Salary range: $52,00-56,000.
