I have always found more information (fact and fiction) about college
hockey recruits from Unofficial college hockey web sites than I have
from the Official site of a specific university or college. Unofficial
sites, usually created by a fan and not an employee of an institution
acting in an official Athletic Department capacity, can post rumor
without consequence. Can an Official site do the same? I can understand
an institution not wanting to announce an in coming player and then,
during the summer, have that student-athlete decide to go to another
school or go Major Juniors. But I also think announcing the recruiting
class coming to a school would help in the recruiting process. Or, does
it have to do with some NCAA rule? I don't know what the reasoning would
be behind such a rule, but ...
