OU has consistently been one of the premier club teams in the country. In
the past, a lack of discipline, not talent, has kept them from winning
championships. That's starting to turn around with their new head coach,
Nick Pappas -- a product of Penn State :-). Even though he espouses some
rather pacifistic new age philisophy, Pappy doesn't take crap from anyone
on the ice and I think he's exactly what he Bobcats need to jump over the
hurdle of winning a national title. They have a good-sized arena, although
both times I was there for a tournament the ice was in terrible shape. OU
has always played a "rugged" game and draws tremendous crowd support. The
Icers love going to OU to play --big, hostile crowds are fun. Of course
since their football team is usually pretty horrible, hockey is the big
winner on campus.
