This morning's Boston Globe announced that the official new nickname for
UMass-Lowell is the River Hawks. This replaces the politically incorrect
Chiefs. IMO "River Hawks" is so much better than the other choices, it a'int
funny. I like it. Go River Hawks!
On a down note, the Globe also announced that three UMaine student-athletes
were arrested. One, a basketball player is, I believe, the son of the hoop
coach. Another is a defensive tackle. Alas, the third was a redshirted
freshman of the hockey team who was arrested for assault. :-( I don't have
the paper with me right now and can't remember the name, but if no one supplies
it by Monday, I'll bring the name in then. I'd been hoping the arrests were
isolated to other sports...
