Regarding the discussion on former NC$$ players, specifically goalies,
in the NHL, I'll add the following.
 
A list of (somewhat) prominent NHL goaltenders (current or *very*
recent) that played NC$$ hockey:
 
  Mike Liut (BGSU)
  Brian Hayward (Cornell)
  Bob Essensa (Mich State)
  Ed Belfour (N Dakota)
  John Casey (N Dakota)
  Steve Weeks (North Mich)
  Chris Terreri (Providence)
  Daren Puppa (RPI)
  Glen Healy (West Mich)
  Curtis Joseph (Wisconsin)
  Mike Richter (Wisconsin)
 
All of the above have been #1 goaltenders in the NHL in the 1990s.
