Jason Blake scored his first NHL goal during his first
game in the NHL.  After scoring The Great Western
Forum fans gave him a 5 min. standing ovation.
 
As earlier reported on the list Blake signed a three
year $1.85 million deal with the Kings.  His contract
is rare because is is guaranteed whether or not he
plays in the NHL.
 
Blake had recently lit up the IHL while playing for
the Orlando Solar Bears.  Blake has 3 goals and 5
assists in 5 games with the Solar Bears.  Jason will
return to Orlando for the  IHL playoffs.  BTW, the
Solar Bears have another UND All-American on their
roster.  1998 WCHA POTY Curtis Murphy is leading all
IHL defensemen in scoring.
 
Blake is the second Moorhead High Spud playing
professional hockey in LA.  Matt Cullen plays for the
Anahiem Mighty Ducks.
