I made my first trip to the Bright Center this past weekend to see
Union's 6-0 loss to the Harvard Crimson. Some others have posted good
summaries of the game, and I can't disagree with much of what they
said. Union just wasn't into it at all. When things did bounce their
way and they had odd-man rush, they'd end up out of sync and go off
sides. When they had chances to put a rebound into an empty net, they
shot it wide. It was a disappointing performance that the Dutchmen
gave for the very large group of Union fans who made it to the game.
Even though the game was so poor from the Union point of view, it was
very good to see so many familiar people there. Lots of people I
regularly see at Achilles, and lots of alumni including what seemed
like every hockey alum from the last 4 years.

Things definitely won't get any easier for the Dutchmen next weekend
when St. Lawrence and Clarkson visit Achilles. Time is running out on
Union to make this a respectable season, and they'll need to pull out
some points against the top and middle of the pack teams in the ECAC.
