Assuming the money is there to start a div 1 program, Big 10 schools need
not have a women's ice hockey program to go along with the men's.. They
do need to conform to the 60-40 rule though.. So maybe a drop in a
"smaller" scale sport on the men's side to coincide with the increase in
athletes that would result from adding a d-1 hockey program.
