It always seemed logical to me to not have names on the away jersey's so that
the home crowd couldn't give a particular player a hard time (calling him by
name).  Of course, it's not too difficult to look a name up in the program,
but having the name right there in front of your face makes it all too easy.
Is this a consideration by some coaches?
