At the risk of further belaboring this issue, not to mention
incurring the wrath of local administrators, I feel it necessary to
voice my opinion about reactions to Bri Farenell's much celebrated post.
I don't think Bri has anything to apologize for, and I found the public
reprimand of his post to be highly inappropriate.
We all know that what we read in the newspapers should be received
with the utmost skepticism. Nonetheless, when something appears in a
newspaper it becomes public information. It can travel farther and
faster over the Internet than the Watertown Times might expect it to,
but in this case it was the newspaper which made the rumor public and
not Bri. Furthermore, I detected no "spin" whatsoever, in his post; he
merely sought more information. Even if he had offered an opinion, that
is his right and it is obvious that he would be speaking solely for
himself. The Internet is thus far a forum for free exchange, and I
hope it remains unconstrained by thought police.
That's all I will say since Mike M. has already covered this rather
well.

Thanks,
-Glenn
