Wayne State started originally playing games at the State Fairgrounds.
They started splitting time with the Compuware facility in Plymouth, where
the Plymouth Oilers of the OHL play. Eventually I think they were playing
most or all of their games there. Last year, though, they switched back to
the Fairgrounds.

The company Compuware is owned by Pete Karmanos. He is owner of the
Carolina Hurricane, Plymouth Oilers and Florida Everblades. He is also a
graduate of Wayne State. Early on in the hockey program, he had talked
about building a hockey facility on campus. I have not heard it come back
up since that time.

Also makes a big difference if you're playing in your own rink or if you're
renting ice. If
you're playing in your own rink, spreading the fixed cost over more teams is
a good thing. If
you're renting ice, then you have much less fixed cost and every dollar you
spend is an added expense.
