I am curious whether the WCHA would allow some teams to split their series if there was mutual agreement? Let me give an example. Suppose Minnesota, Duluth, and St. Cloud were only scheduled to play each other twice, rather than 4 times. So the published schedule is UM at Duluth twice, St. Cloud at UM twice, and Duluth at St. Cloud twice. Could these 3 teams agree to play these series home-and-home instead of the published schedule. A similar situation occurs down here is SWC baseball. You play each team 3 times, usually all at the same site on the same weekend. However, Texas, A&M, and Baylor each split their series up since the schools are close and the home fans get a chance to see each team at least once. Each team still ends up with 3 road games and 3 home games, so it wouldn't appear to give any of the teams an advantage. For WCHA teams with similar proximity, does anyone think the league would ok such an arrangement. This may also play a factor in who the s!
chools designate as their guarente
ed 4 game opponent. If you can arrange a home-and-home series, you may want to designate a school that you have some rivalry with, but which is far enough away so that home-and home is not a viable option.

One additional question. What will be the scheduling procedure if a large number of teams all designate the same school as their 4 game opponent. For example, what if everyone but Wisconsin chooses Wisconsin? This cannot work. How will the league prioritize the choices of the schools?
