  Only 8 teams are in the CCHA tournament; the 9th, 10th and 11th team
miss the tournament - see my "Standings" post.  The ECAC already allows
all 12 teams in the ECAC tournament, so I don't follow your logic - the
playoff format is probably inconsequential to how many, or which teams
enter any conference, since that can always be "adjusted" - see the
history of HE which makes changes in both who gets in and how manmy
(many, that is) games they play.
