I thought I'd pass this along ...

========================================================================
From The Capital Times, Thursday 3/19/92, column by Mike Lucas

"Basically, the key to our power play is those two guys in front. Even
though they're not handling the puck a lot, other teams have to respect
them"
	-- UW Center Doug Macdonald

Dan PLante and Jason Zent are those two guys in front ... in front of
the opposing goaltender whenver the University of Wisconsin hockey team
goes on the power play (no longer a misnomer). In basketball, they would
be the low post players, setting picks for each other while battling for
position on the blocks with the defensive players. In their sport,
though, the defensive players carry sticks. Big sticks. And they use
them, too.

Guess where?

"Guess I won't have kids for the rest of my life," Zent said with a sigh
and a smirk.

What?

"The seems to be the favorite move this year," he said. "They like to
take the stick right up between the legs. Last week, one of the
defensemen jacked me up and broke my cup."

Whoa.

"Unless you have the puck in front of the net," Zent added, "the refs are
going to let them get away with everything."

Apparently so.
So why do it?

"Personally," said Zent, breaking into a smile, "when you have a chance
to score a goal you can take a lot of abuse."

...

The rest of the column is about the powerplay (which has been pretty
good in the last 5 weeks, after starting out terrible), and Zent
and Plante, who have a big role in that.
