While I don't condone the players actions, and support the University's
efforts in issuing sanctions, I am always curious as to the timing of
players' suspensions. UNH plays Niagara and Canisius this weekend, both
nonleague games, and all 8 players will miss the trip to Buffalo. Would the
University's disciplinary actions have changed if this weekend's games were
being played say in Orono?

UNH deserves credit for taking a stand with its players, so please don't
think I'm pointing a finger at them for taking advantage of the schedule.
It just seems to me that in many intercollegiate sports when such
disciplinary measures are called for, teams take the schedule into account.
Perhaps instead of suspending all 8 players this weekend (which doesn't seem
fair to the promoters of this weekend's tournament in Buffalo), maybe UNH
can spread it out to 2 players per game for 4 games.

Be that as it may, I can certainly understand why there was rioting in
Durham last Thursday night. After game 7 of the ALCS I have been down right
nasty, and I may never watch another baseball game for the rest of my life.
Thank God for College Hockey.

And Happy 100th Birthday Curly.

USCHO is reporting that the University of New Hampshire has suspended
eight players for two games for a violation of team rules stemming from
a riot after the Sox lost to the Yankees in Game 7 of the ALCS.

USCHO named the following players: seniors Nathan Martz and Tyler
Scott, juniors Matt Hoppe, Tyson Teplitsky, and Robbie Barker,
sophomores Andrew Leach and Mark Kolanos, and freshman Brett Hemingway

They report this group will not travel with the team this weekend.
