CCHA PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jon Hillebrandt, a freshman goaltender from the
University of Illinois at Chicago, has been selected CCHA Player of the Week
for the week ending January 19, 1992.
Hillebrandt, a 5-9, 170-pound native of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, stopped 68
of 71 shots (.958 save percentage) in a weekend split with the University of
Michigan. In Friday's 4-1 UIC win, Hillebrandt blanked the Wolverines for the
first 45 minutes. He finished with 30 saves. In Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss,
he made 38 saves including 26 over the first two periods, when he again
shutout Michigan.
Hillebrandt has started every Flame game this season. He was a June 1990
draft selection of the New York Rangers. Over his last three games,
Hillebrandt has not allowed a goal in either the first or second periods.

UIC - Larry Pedrie has compiled a 20-33-5 overall record in his second year as
a collegiate head coach. LSSU - Jeff Jackson, the 1991 CCHA Coach of the Year,
has an overall record of 51-9-6 in his second season. Series: The Lakers have
a 32-8-2 advantage including wins in 10 of the last 12 meetings. Last Meeting:
Nov. 29-30, 1991 at UIC, Lake Superior won 5-2 on Friday as Mark Astley scored
two goals and added an assist for LSSU. The Flames recorded a 3-1 win on
Saturday as Jon Hillebrandt made 31 saves. Last Meeting at LSSU: Mar. 1-2,
1991 in the CCHA Quarterfinals, the Lakers won twice, 5-3 and 3-1.

Broncos won 6-5 as Keith Jones tallied twice. Last Meeting at WMU: Dec. 6,

FSU - Bob Mancini, in his second year, has compiled a 27-25-10 record. Miami
- George Gwozdecky has a six-year overall mark of 95-92-11, with a three-year
mark at Miami of 28-72-9. Series: The Bulldogs holds a 21-14-4 advantage.
Miami is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings. Last Meeting: Nov. 8-9, 1991 at
FSU, Miami won 4-2 on Friday as Chris Bergeron had the game-winner and two
assists and goaltender Mark Michaud made 34 saves. The Redskins won 5-2 on
Saturday, scoring five straight goals after falling behind 1-0, to complete
the sweep. Last Meeting at Miami: Feb. 22-23, 1991, Ferris State won 6-2 on

Holmes surpasses 100 career assist plateau: Bowling Green senior right wing
Peter Holmes had three assists this past weekend to raise his career total to
102. For his BG career, Holmes has 75 goals and 102 assists for 177 points.
FSU's Mazzoli survived Falcon barrage: Ferris State netminder Pat Mazzoli made
99 saves this past weekend against Bowling Green. In Friday's 5-4 OT win for
the Bulldogs, he stopped 45 of 49 BG shots. In Saturday's 8-3 loss, Mazzoli
made 54 saves.
UIC's Judson tied for third in Flames all-time scoring: UIC senior Rick Judson,
with 151 career points (66-85), is tied with Mike Rucinski ('83-86) for third on
the Flames all-time point list. His 85 assists place him in fifth all-time.
LSSU's Madeley eighth on CCHA all-time win list: Even though Laker goalie
Darrin Madeley is just a junior, he currently is in eighth place on the CCHA
all-time win list with 44 league victories. Bob Essensa (MSU) is seventh with
45 wins, and Glenn Healy (WMU) is sixth with 48 victories.
Miami's House records 100th career point: With three goals and one assist in
Miami's weekend split at Michigan State, senior center Ken House raised his
career scoring totals to 58 goals and 42 assists for 100 points.
Michigan tough at home: When the Wolverines return home on Saturday (they are
at Ohio State on Friday) to face the Buckeyes, they will be looking to extend
their 18 game regular season home unbeaten streak (15-0-3).
Spartan power play clicking: Michigan State has scored a power play goal in
their last 15 games heading into Tuesday's home game with Ferris State. MSU
has scored 34 man-advantage goals in their last 101 power play attempts
(.337).
OSU's Bales near CCHA top ten: Buckeye junior netminder Mike Bales has made
2011 saves in CCHA league contests. Former Miami netminder Alain Chevrier is
currently 10th on the all-time list with 2,110 saves.
Broncos dazzle in the classroom: Twelve of the 25 members of the 1991-92 WMU
hockey squad earned a 3.00 or better grade average (4.00 scale) for the fall
semester including five who made the Dean's list (3.50 or better).
Close calls: Saturday's five goal win (8-3) for Bowling Green snapped a streak
of 11 straight games that were decided by two goals or less. Unfortunately
for the Falcons, they were 2-6-3 in those 11 games.
