at BU 5, Merrimack 3
Mass Lowell 4, at Maine 1
at Northeastern 4, Mass Amherst 3

Merrimack led BU 3-1 in the third before four unanswered goals enabled
BU to take the win. The game-winner came with 5:31 left off the stick
of Mike Sylvia, who was named #1 star with two goals on the night.

PLAYOFF PICTURE
UML maintains a shot at 4th, but other than that, the real races are
for first between Maine-BU and 6th among Merrimack-BC-PC.

A Maine win Sunday against UML would settle four spots: 1st, 2nd, 4th,
and 5th.

BU and Maine are tied for first with 83 points. Maine's magic number
to clinch first is 5 points, and they can clinch by getting those 5
points between their final two games, with UML Sunday night and UNH
Thursday night. If they do not get 5 points, then BU can finish first
by beating BC Saturday.

UNH will finish 3rd.

NU's magic number to finish 4th is 3 points over UML. If UML does not
at least get a shootout *win* against Maine Sunday, NU will wrap up
4th. Otherwise, the final home ice spot will not be decided until
next weekend when NU hosts UMA and UML hosts PC. UML can finish no
lower than 5th, but part of their chance at fourth is that NU would
have to lose to UMA or lose a shootout vs UMA - even if UML wins its
final two games.

Merrimack is in 6th and holds an 8 point lead over BC and PC, tied for
7th. Merrimack's magic number to clinch 6th over BC is 7 pts, and it
is 2 pts to clinch 7th over PC.

Merrimack, BC, and PC can all finish anywhere from 6th to 8th.
Merrimack has the inside track on 6th, but unless the BC-PC game Sunday
night ends in a tie, the winner has the best shot at overtaking
Merrimack. If BC wins, BC and MC are both guaranteed 7th and PC will
finish 8th. If PC wins, things get real interesting and the BC-MC and
PC-UML games will be big.

UMA is guaranteed to finish 9th and play at the 8th place finisher on
Tuesday, March 7th.
