Some tidbits from the Star Tribune today:
Gophers hockey coach Doug Woog is upset with the 1991-92 WCHA schedule. The
Gophers play 10 of their last 11 games on the road. The only home game would
be with St. Cloud State. "None of the coaches were willing to change their
schedules, so it is up to WCHA commissioner Otto Breitenbach to make a move."
Woog said.
Several U of M administrators and coach Woog inspected the National Hockey
Center at St. Cloud State to get ideas about how the new arena should be
built. The new arena is expected to seat 8,000 and have standing room for
1,600 that someday could be replaced with seats. The arena is expected to cost
about $20. million. The board of regents is expected to hear a new proposal
about the cost (about $41. million) of building of the hockey arena and
remodeling Mariucci and Williams arenas at one of its June meetings.
Notre Dame has signed seven state high school hockey players: Troy Cusey,
Grand Rapids; Jeff Hasselman, Hill-Murray; Brent Lamppa, Virginia; Mike
Murray, Duluth; John Rushin, Bloomington Kennedy; Steve Soderling, Edina; and
Mike Wilary, Osseo. Good going coach Schafer!!!
