Friday night at BU, BU defeated UNH in a physical contest by a score of 5-3.

Tonight (Sat) at UNH, BU manages to edge out a 2-1 victory in what turned out
to be an excellent goalie battle.

With the sweep, BU moves further out in front in the HE standings and secures
its hold on the #2 spot in the country while avenging its loss in the Auld
Lang Syne finals to UNH (3-2).

Tonight was clearly a showcase of two superb goalies who are hot. Heinke was
excellent in goal again while coming up just short both nights. The quote
heard in the BU section of the stands tonight was, "Herlofsky's back!"
Now, we realize that Herlofsky has been back in body for a few weeks now,
but tonight was the first game that he was truly *back* since he was injured
a few months ago. He had looked shaky in his past outings, and some were
speculating that he had lost his "fire." It was nice to see him come out of
it so strongly on the road against the #6 team in the country.

Tonight's game was surprisingly less violent than Friday's. The refs took
control early and the players were more interested in winning later in the
game.

Essentially it was a scoreless first period... followed by a BU-UNH exchange of
goals in the second period (extremely close together) and one more by BU to
take a one-goal lead... and that was it. A scoreless third period where the
entire crowd for both teams were on edge and the tension was thick. Up and
down, back and forth, Herlofsky with the stuff... then Heinke with the stuff.
Both goalies made over 30 saves in the contest, Heinke getting #2 star honors
and Herlofsky getting #1 star.

This weekend was a VERY big weekend for BU.

Now we have to hope there's no let-down against Merrimack.
(Who always seems to get up for us)
