University of Maine goalie Blair Allison blocked Boston College
forward Brian Callahan's shot with his stick and stood in silence.
Allison couldn't find the puck. That's because it had ricocheted
eight feet into the air and over him. When Allison turned, it was
too late as the puck had landed and rolled into the goal.

Just like that, within a span of the first 6:31 of the second per-
iod, the Eagles had overcome a 2-0 deficit and had taken a 3-2
lead. They would never turn back as they handed the Black Bears
their fifth loss in the Black Bears' last nine home games at Al-
fond Arena at the University of Maine campus in Orono.

Callahan's goal came after Maine squandered a 5-3 advantage it
had for 1:17.

Despite outshooting the Eagles unofficially 40-21, the Black
Bears showed there are lies and there are statistics. The Eagles
defense rarely gave the Bears more than one shot at the goal at
a time as it outhustled and outmuscled Maine's forwards rush
after rush on net.

Maine head coach Shawn Walsh relieved his frustration at having
an inexperienced and inconsistent team after defenseman Jason
Weinrich was whistled for high-sticking with 1:01 remaining in
the third period a little more than a minute after Reg Cardinal
brought the Bears within two. Walsh was ejected from the game
for arguing with the officials.

Maine falls to 7-4-1 in Hockey East and 12-9-1 overall. Boston
College improves to 4-7-2 in Hockey East and 10-9-2 overall.
