The College Hockey Discussion List Poll for November 24, 1993:

Teams were given 15 points for a first-place vote, 14 for a second-place
vote, and so on down to 1 point for a fifteenth-place vote. Total first-
place votes are in parentheses.

Michigan, the lone undefeated team in Division I, maintained its position
atop the HOCKEY-L poll, picking up 22 of 24 first-place votes. Maine
remained comfortably in second, but the early-season shakeout continued in
the rest of the Top 15. RPI, despite not playing any games last weekend,
continued its slide, as the Engineers dropped right out of the poll this
week (though they only missed by one point). The Engineers were replaced by
St. Lawrence, making its first appearance of the year in the HOCKEY-L poll.
The week's biggest jumper was Wisconsin, which upped its ranking by six
spots on the strength of their sweep of Colorado College.

Oddity of the week: The New Hampshire Wildcats, despite splitting their
weekend series with Boston College and suffering their first loss of the
season in the process, actually *moved up* four spots.

     Composite poll (24 responses):

Others receiving votes: RPI, Colgate, Brown, Notre Dame, Alaska-
     Anchorage, Boston College, Western Michigan

Teams named on all responses: Michigan, Maine, New Hampshire, Bowling
     Green, Wisconsin

Dropped out of Top 15: RPI (#11 last week)

A look at the Eastern-Western split reveals another strange occurrence in
this week's poll: RPI received enough votes to appear in both the Eastern
and Western polls, but the combined total was not quite enough to nudge
Michigan Tech out of the #15 spot. Close, though.

     Eastern responses: Western responses:

     1. Michigan (14) 224 1. Michigan (8) 134

Here's a composite of the HOCKEY-L poll and the four media polls that
appeared this week. For the most part, the media still doesn't know what to
make of New Hampshire and Bowling Green, while they still have a lot of
respect for BU (perhaps too much, says the HOCKEY-L poll.

ranked 10th by College Hockey USA and Spark Magazine, 11th by WMEB, and 12th
by the Troy Record.

With the appearance of two of the rating systems on HOCKEY-L (thanks, Keith,
Tim, and Robin!), here's how they stack up against the poll -- or, perhaps,
how the poll stacks up against them:
