Thanks, Mike, for your excellent explanation of how individuals and teams
qualify for the Olympics.  But it brings up more questions.
 
Do you have in your plethora of hockey knowledge (mental, electronic, or
printed) information on how Team USA was seeded back in 1980 for Lake Placid?
Did the team get in "because we were the host country" and then come on strong
to take the gold, or were they contenders all along?  How was the team placed
relative to their finish in 84 and 88?
 
Do they even play hockey in Japan?  Any current/former US/Canadian hockey
players with Japanese ancestry likely to play for Team Japan?  That would give
new meaning to "Buy American" 8-)
