It's one thing to petition the NC$$ to have this game "count" as an
official (exempt) game, but quite another to do so AFTER the game is
played and the result is known. I would hope that BC initiated such a
request earlier this Fall before the game was played ....

Incidentally, if we're going to play this "after-the-fact" game, maybe
UNH should look into having its season-opening exhibition match with the
Univ. of New Brunswick declared an "official" game too. After losing 1-5
to the Wildcats in Durham, the UNB Icers reeled off an impressive 11-0-0
streak in their Canadian Collegiate League, and have been Nationally
(Canada) ranked #1 for much of the season. Wouldn't that victory play
well in UNH's RPI and PWR calculations :-) :-) Ahh, but UNB is inel-
igible for the NC$$ Tournament - too bad <g> ....

BTW, is there a limit to the number of "exempt" games the NC$$ will
allow per season ?? UNH is already scheduled to play 36 games this year,
exempting two games in Alaska vs. UAA against their 34-game limit. I
recall that several years ago UAF's CCHA opponents would frequently make
3-game road trips to Fairbanks to play the Nanooks ('tho that scenario
seems to have now fallen out of favor), and I assume those games were also
exempt from the NC$$ regular-season maximum. But is there a hard-and-fast
"rule" as to how many exempt games per season is allowed ?? Under the
current set-up, impressive 40-win seasons such as Maine achieved in their
1993 championship campaign will be extremely hard to duplicate ....

  Cheers from Maryland - Jim
  Go Blue !!!
