Very well put! I can be counted as one of the Hockey-Lers who thought the
shootout concept was krap. It was going to make it more clear as to who
won HE and or what place a team was in HE. Well all it has done is made it
appear that we have CO HE champs. If Maine and BU were reversed above I'd
still feel the same way. I say lets have a Hockey-l vote on the shoot-out
now the regular season is over and send the results to the Commissioner,
and all HE AD's. Of course I'm assuming most Hockey-l posters are against
the shoot-out ;). Even if we didn't have a "supposed" tie at the top, I
still think the shoot-out is nothing more then a gimmick. The first
couple of times it was interesting after that boring... to me. Then again
I would like to seen Maine win more then 1 out of 5. I think it cast a
negitive shadow on Allison, because I've heard several folks say, "he'd not
have had the year he did without Maine's defense... the shootout proved
anyone could beat him one on none." I think that without the shootout he'd
have been a forerunner, if not winner of MVP in HE. If I were a BU fan I'd
not feel very good about being declared the CO champ, cause if this had been
any year other then this you'd not be... not BU's fault, please don't flame
me, if I were betting on a NCAA champ, my money would be on BU or Michigan.
However, IMHO Maine is the HE regular season champ...with no CO in front.
