Two things:

(1) One thing RPICH (nor any other computer ranking) does not consider is
"recency" of a win. When the NCAA Hoop tournament field is announced, they
usually mention a team that slid out because of recent poor play, despite a
better season-long performance compared to other teams that made it. In a
human poll, recent events weigh a little more heavily. If recent level of play
is indeed important (and I'm not saying it is, I'm not sure), why not weight
the more recent games with a slight factor to account for this?

(2) A totally different topic: I have created a home page for Clarkson
hockey. It does also include some things of broader interest, like the current
ECAC standings, and the national polls. This is my first "public" announcement
of it. It resides (for now) at the following URL:

       ftp://charney.plh.af.mil/pub/www/hockey/clarkson_hockey.html

As I am new to writing HTML files, I would love to hear from anybody checking
it out, especially people who don't use Mosaic, or use Mosaic on a non-Unix
machine. General comments are, of course, also wanted, regarding anything from
style or presentation to techie-type things, like why I'm not using HTTP.

Regards,
