In another Globe article by Nancy L. Marrapese, partially related to
college hockey... the Boston Bruins have given a termination contract
to goalie John Casey and nine others: Bill Armstrong, Scott Bailey,
Mike Bales, John Blue, Denis Chervyakov, Ken Hammond, Dennis Holland,
Darren Stolk and Jim Wiemer.

This means that all of these players may now be given offers by other
NHL teams over the next 30 days. If not given an offer, they may
choose to sign with the Bruins who must either honor that one year
contract or buy the player out for the single year salary within 48
hours after they have signed. [Think this is how termination
contracts work.]

What this means is that there is going to be a gaping hole in the
Bruins goalie core, since Casey, Bales and Blue are three of the four
top Boston goalies. This means that Blaine Lacher from the National
Champion LSSU team, recently signed early as a free agent, is THE
goalie for the Boston Bruins. If not next season, then definitely the
season after that.

Both he and Clayton Bellows, center from LSSU, completed physicals and
were introduced to the local media on Wednesday and Thursday.
