RPICH is calculated by the Rating Percentage Index method, used as a tool
in selecting teams for the national collegiate tournaments in basketball,
baseball, and hockey. Ratings are derived by summing each team's winning
percentage, the average winning percentage of its opponents, and the average
winning percentage of its opponents' opponents, multiplied by 25%, 50%, and
25% respectively. Factors such as home ice and margin of victory are not
included. No individual game is weighted more heavily than any other.
