McGill looked a little tired - perhaps jetlag, I don't know when they
flew in. But were holding their own until Great Britain grabbed four
quick goals at the end of the first. I know its easy to say, but I
reckon the netminder should have had at least two of them, as they were
shots from distance, which just seemed to go through him.
Following that onslaught the Redmen seemed to give up, and whilst their
niggling tactics are all part of the game it sparked the British players
into retaliating, and when the referee didn't do anything initially all
hell broke lose, and the old cliche of going to a boxing match and a
hockey game breaking out was coming true.
In my mind, and yes I was supporting GB, the GB guys were doing their
share of niggling too, but after 30 minutes, with the score at 5-1 to
GB, although there were a lot of goals this stopped being a hockey
match, and certainly stopped being entertaining.
Lets hope the Redmen can get a chance to play some hockey like the
University of Manitoba did, and show fans in Britain what hockey is
supposed to be about...

Goaltending is 90% mental, and the other 10% is in your head
