On Behalf of former "practice" goaltenders everywhere, I raise my glass
gently over my massive winter food storage and in the air towards the
Northwest before I taste the sweet nectar of the Gods.

BTW...Anyone else feel that a Frozen Four in Milwaukee with our group is
like putting a Congressman in a room full of lobbyists and expecting to hold
them to the rules of campaign contribution ethics?  Looking forward to the
Thursday dinner and the Friday skate.  Mmmmm Beeer.

Only partly correct. Typically, UAA dresses three goal tenders for home
games with one being a walk-on 'practice' goalie who is never expected to
play in a regular game with the home 'dressing' mostly a reward for his
yeoman efforts during practices throughout the year. One of the regular goal
tenders had a baby during the week (his girl friend) and had little sleep
and/or practice time during the latter part of the week. He did not dress
and instead sat in the stands. Denver ran the regular goal tender early in
Friday's night game causing substantial injury and removal from the game.
Thus, the unexpected occurred and the 'practice' goalie had to go in. He did
extremely well (UAA lost 3-2) however they had the normal, regular senior
goalie who was in the stands dress and sit on the bench during the third
period (referee granted this). That goalie then played the entire game on
Saturday night.
