Hey folks,

This may be the wrong list to ask this, but I can never keep that stuff
straight.

The NCAA has trademarked the phrase "Frozen Four" for the D-I men's ice
hockey tourney. The concensus is that the phrase originated with the fans
(and that's what I think, too).

Anyone know about *when* fans may have begun calling it the Frozen Four? I
don't want to just indiscriminately pick a HOCKEY archive and search it.

You can email me personally at my [log in to unmask] address, or post here, if
it's ok to do so.

Thanks,
paula
