Not to jump in late on a subject which appeared to have been put to rest some
time ago. ( Actually I will)
For those of us not fortunate to live within 4 hours of an NHL team(Thank God
for Primestar Center Ice) but remember well the college atmosphere
Maine'85-'90. There is another larger but less publicized faction of ex-
college players doing very well at what they all - I'm sure - love best --
Minor League Hockey.
While not up to NHL standards. Hockey at any level is a game (I think) best
enjoyed live if at all possible. The minor leagues provide many of us in out-
of-the-way/and sometimes unexpected locations something to do.
Especially here in the deep South(Tallahassee, FL) where hockey is enjoying a
groundswell of support from at times unedjucated but always enthusiastic fans.
Most, if not all of the minor league teams at least down to the ECHL/WCHL/WPL
level have and rely heavily on college talent.
Enough for now, check out the minor league team sites for more info.
Oh, for you Maine fans: Cal Ingraham, playing for the Idaho Steelheads in
Boise scored the fastest hat-trick in team history the other night(maybe
league history also) Three even strength goals in 1:15. Check it out for
yourself. Amazing.
