Shannon Basaraba took a feed from Craig Brown
behind the net and whistled a wrist shot past Marc
Robitaille at 8:04 of the first period as The
Riverhawks flew out to a 3-0 lead. Lowell would
have all the scoring they would need as the senior
forward registered his second goal and first game
winner of the year. And that's all the scoring
Lowell would get as the Huskies scratched their
way back into the game eventually falling by a
score of 3-2. Northeastern standout goalie
Robitaille would go on to shut down Lowell,
accruing 27 saves.

Lowell appeared to be on its way to a blowout when
Basaraba beat Robitaille's glove hand less than
two minutes after sophomore Sean Storozuk had made
it 2-0 Lowell at 6:38 on Lowell's first
power-play. Sophomore Chris Bell had given Lowell
a 1-0 lead at the 0:47 mark. Lowell was to go on
its second power-play at 11:43 and up to that
point it appeared the Riverhawks were off and
running. But Robitaille and his Northeastern
teammates shut down the Lowell attack and began a
slow but steady crawl back into the game.

Northeastern climbed within two goals at the 4:35
mark of the second period as Dupont took a nice
feed from Newson and beat Fillion cleanly. The
second period was the first of two periods in
which the Huskies would outshoot Lowell but
Fillion was able to stem the tide, turning away a
few solid Husky opportunities. It wasn't until
Welch beat Fillion on a low slapper to his stick
side at 7:14 of the third that the Huskies were
able to climb to within a goal. Lowell held strong
however, managing to kill off a Northeastern
two-man advantage along the way. The game was
chippy from the middle stanza on but Northeastern
was unable to capitalize on their 5 power-plays
chances throughout the game.

The victory brings Lowell to a 6-3 record with a
4-2 mark in HockeyEast. The loss dips Northeastern
below .500 with a 4-5 record and puts them at 3-3
in HockeyEast play. Lowell's Fillion is now 5-2
and his GA drops to 3.27 (3.74 in HockeyEast).
Fillion got the second star and Basaraba garnered
first star accolades. Northeastern's Billy Newson
had the third star.
