I am not able to cite career statistics but two of Michigan's
     freshmen have fathers who had distinguished NHL careers:
 
     Andrew Merrick (Wayne Merrick)
     Kevin Magnuson (Keith Magnuson)
 
     Hopefully, they will pan out better than the last "son of former
     NHL star" who attended Michigan -- Ryan Sittler (son of Darryl
     Sittler).  :)
 
     Glenn Auerbach

UMass-Lowell defenseman Chris Libett's father played in the NHL for 14 years,
scoring 237 goals and 268 assists in 982 games.
 
Are there any other current players with fathers who had similarly significant
careers in the NHL?
