I don't remember any mention of a US team at all in the Spengler Cup last
year, or in any year for that matter.

Even if it is true, I don't see why this is disturbing. The Spengler Cup
is a tournament for pro teams. Canada sends a cobbled-together "national"
team, made up of Canadians playing pro in Europe and one or two college
players. (I believe Martin St-Louis went last year). The other teams are
all European professional clubs.

Why shouldn't USA Hockey send a pro team to a pro tournament? Sending
Rochester makes perfect sense to me. Sending a college team is just asking
them to get hammered.

See you later,
John
