The University of Findlay's hockey program will compete this coming fall as a    NCAA Division II Independent.  UF is in the process of applying for an          associate membership with the ECAC West for the 1997-98 season.
 
UF competed this past season as club team and went 16-4-4 in the Midwest College Hockey League (MCHL) as a first year prograam.  They will maintain a club       program this year and begin a varsity program that will play a 28 game schedule comprised of varsity and Div. I club teams.
 
The program is headed by former Mercyhurst College and Kent State assistant      Craig Barnett (SUNY-Plattsburgh '89).  The University of Findlay is located in Findlay, Ohio, approximately 45 miles south of Toledo and 20 minuted [Ds from BGSU.  UF is a division II institution that has been a NAIA member until this coming fall, in which they will join the NCAA as a dual affiliate.  UF is a small,       private liberal arts college, which is very comparable to the ECAC West schools.  The 1996-97 varsity schedule is as follows:
