Boy do I feel bad for those teams in the ECAC and HE because for the
most part, all of the CCHA officials that I have seen are pretty fair and
generally call a good game.  Every game that I've seen Cole in, granted
I've seen few compared to the games he does over the season, have been
favorable to one team.  I notice what ends up happening is the other
official ends up calling penalties on Cole's favorable team to try to
balance it out.  It doesn't always work though.  It may be that the
CCHA's one ref system works better.
 
I don't know why the NCAA put Cole in
another LSSU game.  After the Clarkson game in 91, there was actually a
petition going around to get Cole fired or whatever they do to
terrible refs. 8-)  It was obviously poor planning on the NCAA's part
to have
him ref another game with LSSU as even if perhaps he did call a fair
game, there would still be speculation over how fair he was.  I for one
was among the hundreds of fans who stayed after the Clarkson game in
91 and chanted "We Want Cole."  Cole ended up exiting across the ice to a
vehicle that was brought into the arena.
