I agree with Mike Kahn that play-by-play man Mike Emrick not only does a great
job describing the game, but also seems to understand that hockey doesn't
operate in an NHL vacuum.
I was especially impressed with his work during the last Winter Olympics. I set
up a TV in the high school library so that students (and myself!) could watch
Team USA. During a break in the action Emrick said, "I want all of you students
out there to be sure to thank the teacher who's letting you watch this game;
they don't have to do that." Unfortunately, we were between periods so I was
the only one to hear it, but thought "Wow, this guy has class!"
