Summary:

Union extended its unbeaten streak to 4, and took over 8th place in
the ECAC with a 3-2 overtime win at Princeton. I only heard the 3rd
period and the overtime on the radio, so some of this is just from
what I read in the paper.

Union took a 2-1 lead into the third period, on goals by Chris Ford
and Scott Boyd. Union outshot Princeton 19-11 in the first 2 periods,
but it was up to Mike Gallant in the 3rd, when he stopped 12 of 13
Princeton shots. It seems that Princeton had a goal disallowed midway
through the 3rd, but there is no mention of that in the paper. Anyone
who was there have any details on this? Anyway, Princeton's pressure
finally paid off with just over a minute to go. Mike Bois tied the
game for the Tigers with 1:13 left in the 3rd.

The overtime period was all Princeton, but fortunately for the
Dutchmen, also all Gallant. Princeton had the first 5 shots of OT,
some of which required big saves by Gallant. Union finally got a shot
on goal at 4:05 of the overtime, and they made it count. Cory
Holbrough put a backhand shot between Konte's pads to give the
Dutchmen their first overtime win in 6 overtime games (1-2-3).

The win gives Union a 6-9-2 league record, good for 8th place. If the
Dutchmen can hold this spot, it would mean a home playoff game. Union
is also back over .500 in their overall record, at 10-9-3. The
Dutchmen also have a 5-point cushion in the standings over Yale, and
would all but clinch a playoff spot with a win there tonight.
