Folks,
Why don't the non-ivies join the MAAC to form a super-conference? They would
being additional prestige to the MAAC, and be joining a group that has Div 1
ambitions. The geography wouldn't be any more difficult.
Except for UVM, who should join the other New England state schools, such as
the UMasses, UNH, and Maine in Hockey East. If the MAAC becomes too
unwieldy, UConn could join HE, too.
On the other hand, were this to happen, the Ivy league would be only 6
teams, which is probably not enough to sustain a league. Would they get an
automatic NCAA bid? Whether the Ivies admit it or not, they need the Empire
teams.
It's also kinda interesting that the Ivy league has not expanded in recent
years, while many other leagues have. Is Union, for example, on par,
academically and athletically, with the other Ivies?
